- adds TRIG CONDITIONS!
The latest sysex upgrade files for the Modor DR-2
TRIG CONDITIONS ... !
First the most important of the new features: Trig conditions! A trig condition on a drum hit is a condition that is evaluated the moment the sequencer has to play (trigger) that drum hit. It checks whether it has to play the drum hit or not, ie. whether the condition is true or false.
4 different types of trig condition are implemented in the DR-2:
- A:B condition: true every Ath time of B repeats. 3:4 means the drum hit is played the 3rd of every 4 loops of the pattern.
- N% condition: random triggering with N% chance to be true.
- PREV A-F condition: true if the previous evaluation on instrument A...F was true.
- PLAY condition: true while the PLAY button is held down.
Programming a trig condition is very easy! Keep down a step button and turn SELECT/BPM. Turning left invokes the NOT function, turning right removes it.
Keep down the step button and press NO to remove the trig condition. You can also give it a 1:1 trig condition (= always true) to remove it.

LOADING & SAVING SINGLE INSTRUMENTS
It's a question we received quite a few times before. DR-2 users were asking for a way to load & save single instruments to exchange them between drum sets. That has been made possible now, and we also included a set of 128 instruments to get started with.
The operation is a bit clumsy maybe, as there are no specific buttons for it on the machine, but we guess you'll easily get used to it:
- Enter the LOAD menu in drumset mode (press DRUMSET and then 1x MENU), you are now in the menu where you can load full drumsets
- Now keep one of the instrument buttons A...F down for a second. The display changes to indicate you're loading single instruments
- Use SELECT/BPM to choose and preview that instrument
- Press YES to load (or NO to cancel)
Saving works the same way, from the SAVE menu (press DRUMSET and then 2x MENU).
Together with this upgrade, we also included a full set of 128 instruments, to get you started. After successful installation of the firmware upgrade, also send the DR2_Single_Instruments_FactoryPresets.syx sysex file to the DR-2.
ALL STOP or MUTE
A very simple, but sometimes useful little extra. Press STOP a second time after you stopped the sequencer, this immediately stops all sounding instruments. This can be very handy when using drum sounds with long decays. Like a drummer that mutes his cymbals with his hands at the end of a piece.
AUTOSAVE
When enabling the new BootFromAutosave option in the SYSTEM SETTINGS menu, the DR-2 will always restart where you left off. A few seconds after moving a knob or hitting a button on the DR-2, the result is saved inside the DR-2, to be restored at bootup.

BOOTLOADER UPGRADE
The installation procedure is a bit more complex as usual this time. We need a new bootloader version to be able to install the new firware. Just follow the proper sequence:
- If your actual firmware version is lower than OS007, first install OS013. It's included in the installation files, and is only to be used for this purpose, of course. You don't need to install this if your actual version is OS007 or higher
- Install the new bootloader version, during normal operation of the DR-2
- Bootup the DR-2 while keeping SHIFT+MODEL down, and then send the new firmware upgrade to the DR-2
- And finally eventually install the 128 single instrument presets if you want to use them
We wish you a lot of inspiration using your upgraded DR-2 !
